The Joy of Giving
Giving is part of the daily outreach of the Christian life and we are all called to give away as much money and time as we are able to. Paul in his second letter to the Corinthians chapter 9 verse 7 tells us that we should not give reluctantly but with cheerfulness. In fact, I have heard that the literal translation of “cheerfulness” in this context is “hilarious”.
Many of you already give generously and regularly and we would like to say a special “thank you” to private individuals and to Churches who already provide regular donations. Your donations are vitally important as they enable us to meet the needs of the homeless and all who have problems with their housing.
Funding is becoming increasingly difficult and we are grateful to Kingston Council for their ongoing grants. We will also be making fresh attempts to secure some more funding from charitable trusts.
However, local needs normally have to be funded by local people especially when we are trying to help those who are not regarded as having “priority” housing need.
